Murlidhar Ramachandra Acharekar (1907–1979) was an Indian artist, film art director in Hindi cinema, who won Filmfare Best Art Direction Award three times, 1958 for Pardesi, 1960 forKaagaz Ke Phool, in 1962 for Jis Desh Men Ganga Behti Hai. [1]

He had worked on a number of hit films including Sangam, Mera Naam Joker, Bobby and Sargam. Also known as Dadasaheb in the film circle, he spent his last days in Pestom Sagar.

Acharekar Family is dedicated to Art and films since generations. Grandfather M.R. Acharekar was one of the Foremost of the Indian Artist who was then sighted by the film Icon Raj Kapoor for Art directing his films.

 In the later generation Mr. Nishikant Acharekar worked with R. K. Studios as set designer being on the top of notch of the feild he kept the legacy of the family, he is still remembered for his mesmerizing sets of Razia Sultan. 

In this generation Prasad Anand Acharekar is working hard to keep the name on the forefront of Film and Fine Art. Starting with his first film as writer and director
